Railway Tatkal Booking Rules: Big Update! Check these rules before booking Tatkal railway ticket, penalty may apply

some of the updated Tatkal booking rules that you should know before booking a Tatkal ticket:

  • Tatkal booking opens at 10:00 AM for AC classes and 11:00 AM for NON-AC classes One day in advance the actual date of the journey excluding the date of the journey w.e.f. of 15.06.
  • Tatkal tickets can be booked only one day (24 hours) before the train’s departure.
  • The maximum number of Tatkal tickets that an individual can book is 6 per month.
  • Tatkal tickets are subject to a surcharge of 30% of the basic fare for all classes except second class, where the tax is 10%.
  • Tatkal tickets cannot be canceled or refunded.
  • If a Tatkal ticket is not canceled before the chart preparation, the passenger will be penalized as per the Indian Railway rules.

Here are some of the penalties that may apply if you cancel a Tatkal ticket:

  • If a Tatkal ticket is canceled within 4 hours of booking, a cancellation charge of 25% of the basic fare will be applicable.
  • If a Tatkal ticket is canceled within 24 hours of booking, a cancellation charge of 50% of the basic fare will be applicable.
  • If a Tatkal ticket is canceled after 24 hours of booking, a cancellation charge of 100% of the basic fare will be applicable.
