Visiting Teacher of Violin and Viola

Start date: January 2023

  • We are looking for an inspiring teacher of Violin and Viola to join the talented team of visiting music teachers at Latymer Upper School from January 2023.
  • We have a thriving string department at Latymer, with 3 violin/viola teachers, a cello teacher, and a double bass teacher; our cello teacher is also Head of Strings.
  • We are looking for a teacher of both violin and viola who would be able to take on 1 day’s teaching per week. This would involve individual lessons, usually lasting 30 minutes, as well as running and coaching at least one chamber ensemble, currently a thriving sixth-form string quintet.
  • We are looking for a teacher who is able to inspire boys and girls in both our Prep School and our Upper School, ranging in age from 7–18, so empathy with the entire age group is essential. In Year 4, we run a successful Prep 4 Music Project which enables small groups of pupils to have free music lessons for a term and so the successful candidate is likely to be involved at some stage. The Visiting Music Staff, all of whom are employed by the school, are an engaging group of outstandingly talented musicians and teachers, and the department is always buzzing and alive.

Salary: £40.13 per hour
